Meet Sweet Annie! Named after a Zac Brown song - she exhibits a soft hand, which is very dense and uniform. Her EPDs from the award winning genes of her lineage give her a 2017 EPD Trait Ranking of TOP 2.5 percentile in AFD, TOP 5.3 percentile in SDAFD, TOP 2.9 Percentile in SpinFinenss, TOP 5.8 percentile in %F>30, Top 0.3% in Mean Curve (number 133 out of 42K females!), Top 4% in Medulation and Top 8% in Fleece Weight!
Some History: Sweet Annie's dam, Hummingherd's Running Lizzy, boasted excellent mothering abilities and Fleece stats - a daughter of light multi champ PC Running Late - she sheared 15.9AFD on her third shearing. Sweet Annie's sire as well brings a lot to the genetic package here: He is the well known Levi's 501 of Hummingherd, a herdsire who is now standing at stud at Little Creek Farm/Accoyo America in NY. His offspring can often be found at POC Auction in June. '501' is the son of multi fleece champion Hummingherd's Leviathan. Leviathan, as a Poseidon son, threw an astounding fineness with density that was a game-changer for Hummingherd Alpacas. The best male he produced was Annie's sire ‘Levi's 501’ who amassed 15 blue ribbons and 5 Color Championships in both halter and fleece shows early in his career, including impressive wins in large competitive white classes. In 2011 he beat 11 big-name entries at IAO fleece, and in 2012 he won IAO Supreme Fleece Champion, then went on to win GWAS Fleece Color Champion and Judges Choice. He closed out that year winning First place in AOA National Fleece Show! He amazed all with also managing to be in the 10th percentile in fleece weight! All that fineness and weight are a rare combination, but due to his density - he offered both.
Sweet Annie is Dense. She comes by it honestly since her sire, Levi's 501’s skin biopsy results showed a follicle density of 78.9/sq.mm at 36 mo. age. Secondary to primary fiber ratio was 10.6:1 Mean secondary fibers at 36mo. were 16.4 with primary fibers at 21.9 microns. Ian Watt's summary comments were (quote) "This is an elite alpaca exhibiting excellence in all aspects of skin biopsy data, Excellent uniformity of micron in both fiber populations is enhanced by the 5.5 micron fiber population differential which completes the package that makes this an elite alpaca herdsire. One of the best we have ever tested."
